We are off road enthusiasts who enjoy the great outdoors and the adventure of exploring new places.

Many things make up a great expedition. The preparations and the planning, the camping, the travel, the camaraderie, meeting new friends, challenging trails and seeing new sights around every corner are just a few reasons we enjoy it so much.

We believe that we should be good stewards of the land by following the tenets of Tread Lightly, practicing low impact camping and encouraging others to do the same.

CDR 2011/Shadow of the Rockies Expedition

The route we will take during this expedition will take us through some very scenic country where we will see many interesting sights.  The places mentioned are certainly not the only places we will stop at and visit.  We hope to meet many new people along the way.  We hope to have new friends travel with us and introduce us to new adventures and trails.

This is a trip of a lifetime.  Matt has done fantastic work with the routing for the entire trip.  Many thanks Matt!!!

Our route will have us traveling on Interstates, paved roads, gravel roads and unimproved trails.  We will cross the Continental Divide many times.  We will be traveling through forests and deserts, from low elevation to elevations as high as 12,000 + feet.

We subscribe to the tenets of Tread Lightly,  http://www.treadlightly.org/,   and will travel and camp with these in mind.  "Leave no trace" camping is important to our environment and to others who may follow us.

There will be updates as we get closer to departure time in mid August.  When we begin the trip, it is planned to update this blog daily throughout the entire expedition with what we have done and seen along with photos.

Equally important is the message we will carry for Expedition Awareness.  We will do our best to help educate interested people along the way about this rare disease and what is being accomplished by Expedition Awareness.  We are humbled by being able to help spread the word.  Please visit the Expedition Awareness website at http://www.expedition-awareness.org/ to learn more.

Matt, Griz Lee Bear and myself would like to thank everyone who has helped us to date.  Without you this would never be possible.
